About Madelaine

Born in Scotland in 2000, Madelaine is an atelier trained artist specialising in portraiture. She is a student of Charles H. Cecil Studios in Florence, Italy, working in the sight-size method.

This process involves working to the scale of life, always under natural light, a traditional method used by masters such as Sargent and Velázquez. Madelaine works with traditional materials, primarily in oil paints on canvas, or charcoal on paper.

Commissioning a portrait is a collaborative process between the client, sitter, and artist; an amalgamation of desire and ambition to create a deeply personal vision that captures spirit, character, and likeness.
